EXCEPT-2

Ron van Doorneveld



	I am Ron van Doorneveld and I play the banjo, accordion and the harmonica in EXCEPT-2. As an "extra" I do give a "vocal support" in the harmony songs. My interest in country music was aroused through my parents, who had some records in this type of music. Especially Buck Owens I liked very much. When I was 17 I happened to obtain a "Dillards" record. That record was "Back Porch Bluegrass" and after listening to onley one song, I was already lost ! !
People of my age then bought popmusic records, but I bought bluegrass records, apart from records by the Byrds, Poco, Burrito's etc. So you might say especially "country" flavoured music.. I also listened a lot to country-programmes on the Dutch radio by Wim Bloemendaal. My urge for acoustical music became greater all the time. At an early age I played the accordion and much later I started to play banjo and dobro.
	After "messing about" on my own for some years, I started with four others to play in the band "Country Stuff". After two members had left this band, we met the people with whom we now play: EXCEPT-2. And that too, is a real pleasure !

Because Ed and Ron felt more attracted to "Cajun" music,
they left EXCEPT-2 in September 2003 to play in the "Down Town Cajun Band"; together with Will.
