Music has been on my mind since I was young.
Through my father-in-law I came in contactwith bluegrass.
He used to collect all kinds of broadcasts from mid-waves radio
with his old MONO (!)-recorder.

I have to admit that I was hardly interested in this type of music at the time,
probably also because of the miserable recording quality.
In those days I bought LP's from the Byrds
(Sweetheart of the rodeo) and also Dillard &Clarck.
Later on I discovered the "country-rock" of The Eagles.
Especially the harmony-singing by the Eagles I found fantastic.

My musical interest has always been focused on blues, rock and symphonical rock.
(I played electric bass in the symphonic rock-formation "Flyte").

But at the beginning of 1998 I decided to see if I could join a Country group.
No doubt you get the picture already; I happened to meet EXCEPT-2.
We got along fine from the very first start;
I liked the atmosphere in the group, as well as the music !

It was just that the instrument I had been playing
in various groups over the years (the electric bass) actually doesn't belong in a bluegrass band...
After Nils had made my mouth water with a "stud"-bas, I decided to risk it and I bought an acoustic bass.
Playing it took a lot more, compared to the electric one,
as I was soon to find out in a rather painful way.
But after the necessary practice, some lessons and above all; most painful fingers,
a steadily growing part of the repertoire could be played on the upright bass.
This immediately added some extra swing and volume to the already unique "sound" of EXCEPT-2.
